Recent News
This summer The Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY acquired one of Brian's rare tree drawings for its permanent collection. Also University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences commissioned Brian to create a new painting for its building in Little Rock, AR. Other museums whom have recently acquired Rutenberg paintings include The Peabody-Essex Museum of Art, The Naples Museum of Art, Hickory Museum of Art, Arkansas Art Center, Springfield Museum of Art, Ogden Museum of Art, and the Morris Museum of Art.
The recently released monograph on Brian´s work published by Radius Books is selling well in North America and now in Europe and Asia. www.radiusbooks.org
At age 43 Brian has already had two retrospective exhibitions: a Ten Year Survey at the Butler Institute of American Art, Ohio in 2001 and a major eighty eight piece retrospective at the State Museum of South Carolina in Columbia in 2006. In fall of 2009 Brian will open his seventh solo museum show at the Gibbes Museum of Art, Charleston.

Brian's recent public slide lectures include Seven Bridges Foundation, Farmingdale University, Gibbes Museum of Art, University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, Hunter College, Edinboro University, Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Hickory Museum of Art, School of Visual Arts, the University of South Carolina, and Katonah Museum of Art.
Brian was a Visiting Artist at the University of South Carolina where he created a series of prints in the Atelier Program. To view the prints go to the USC Website
In 2008 the Bloomfield Birmingham Art Center in Michigan invited Brian to curate its prestigious Statewide Annual Juried Exhibition.

An interview with Brian on the subject of Glenn Gould aired nationwide in Canada on CBC radio. Brian was also the subject of Talk About, a radio program on South Carolina Public Radio.
PBS, in association with S.C. Public Television, featured Brian in State of the Arts which continues to play to a wide audience.
Three of Brian's paintings were recently purchased for the staterooms of the Mirabella V, the largest luxury sailing ship in the world.
Gamblin Artist Colors featured one of Brian's new paintings in its national ad campaign in Art News Magazine.
Brian will be featured in a new book "Aerial Perspectives" produced by the Cavan Arts Council in Ireland. Brian was inspired to paint in Cavan County while a Fulbright Scholar in Ireland.
